The MSc. degree is not yet well known or widespread in the Czech Republic. What can its holders use it for and what does it entail?
What is an MSc.
The title was created by shortening the English phrase Master of Science, which is sometimes literally translated as Master of Science. It is thus a title declaring that its graduate has a university degree. It has a tradition primarily in the Anglo-Saxon world.
In the current legislative setting, it is not an academic degree. In terms of its level, it corresponds to the MSc. domestic degree of Ing, or education at the master’s level. The condition for obtaining the degree is the completion of higher education at the level of a Bachelor’s degree.
Why is the MSc.
An MSc. offers primarily the necessary amount of theoretical knowledge. It is thus advantageous for fresh graduates. Alternatively, it can be well suited for people who want to take up positions in various scientific fields such as IT or economics.
One of the typical features of the MSc. is that it is usually obtained in fields that are in some way related to science. Typically, this means natural or technical sciences, but also medicine. However, the experienced conventions of individual countries are not entirely uniform in this respect.
Graduates can capitalise on the knowledge they have acquired in this way by rising up the career ladder, strengthening their overall position in the labour market and, ultimately, gaining better financial remuneration.
