Artificial intelligence (AI) is a topic that still divides society into its supporters and opponents. Interestingly, while AI has been an everyday part of our lives for over twenty years, a large number of people do not see it and consider it a threat. This is probably due to a lack of information reaching the general public.
As early as the beginning of the new millennium, companies started using basic forms of automation, such as simple algorithms to sort data and automated responses to emails. The first commercial applications of AI appeared in customer relationship management (CRM) systems, where AI helped analyze customer data and predict customer behavior. Just a few years later, AI began to be used for advanced data analysis, identifying patterns and trends and providing deeper insights for decision making. Companies began implementing AI chatbots and virtual assistants to improve customer service and provide 24/7 support. With machine learning, AI systems became capable of processing and learning from massive amounts of data, enabling more accurate predictions and personalized recommendations.
Today, AI can automate more complex tasks such as image and audio analysis, natural language processing, and autonomous decision making. Companies are increasingly relying on AI to make strategic decisions, predict market trends, and optimize operations. AI is now an integral part of many industries including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, retail and logistics.
Specific applications of artificial intelligence can be found, for example, in healthcare, where it is used for disease diagnosis, personalised medicine and medical image analysis. In finance, AI helps with fraud detection, risk management and automated trading. It is also encountered in manufacturing or retail, where AI is used for predictive machine maintenance, production process optimization and supply chain management, and enables personalized shopping experiences, inventory optimization and customer behavior analysis.
It is rapidly gaining popularity among individuals and companies with a creative focus, certainly in administration and marketing, but also in education. Not that AI should teach children and students instead of teachers, but it can help with the preparation of materials and activities, where it is able to meet our specified requirements in any field very accurately. It will find and evaluate all sorts of data for you, suggest procedures, show you new ways that you may not have enough information about. You can try it yourself, for example on chatGPT, where you give the AI a topic you want help with in the form of a conversation and get as many suggestions as you want. Next, you work with the provided materials as you need them – either modifying them for your own specific needs or using them as the AI suggested.
Artificial intelligence can make hours of work easier for the average person or employee, and as an employer in certain industries, it is already common to assume that everyone knows at least the basics. Those who haven’t started with AI are already behind the curve. That’s why it’s high time to start exploring the possibilities that AI offers you, not only to keep up with the times, but to accelerate that pace. You can also sign up for an AI course here at the European Academy of education. After completing the course, you will be amazed at the possibilities that have suddenly opened up for you.
