Choosing a university is one of the quite important milestones in life. Which aspects to take into account when choosing?
Don’t be influenced when choosing a college
Young people in particular often have no idea what they want to do in their professional life.
They see some of their classmates going on to university, often influenced by parents who simply want a ‚good‘ education for their son or daughter, symbolised by a university degree.
You may hear from many directions that there is a lack of technical professions in the Czech Republic, for example in construction or engineering. And you have noticed that the number of applicants applying for medicine or other health-related fields is on the rise.
The labour market situation is a good guide for choosing a university. But it’s far from the only one. Above all, you should have the personal qualities to study.
Technical fields require a positive attitude towards mathematics and are not ideal for a student who has been struggling with this science since high school. Also, the career of a future medic will certainly not be very long if he or she hates the sight of blood.
College should reflect the student’s aptitude and the job market
Thus, you need to find the intersection between the fields that are potentially interesting to you and those that have just the potential in terms of a future profession. Of course, a graduate in philosophy will also find a job, but his or her path will probably not be as straightforward as that of the „ajt’s“.
However, not every school will meet your expectations even if you choose your field of study responsibly; you may simply find in the first semester, for example, that your studies are too theoretical. Before you apply, look carefully at the information resources available.
They will help you to form a realistic picture of what you can realistically expect when studying. Read the school’s website carefully, paying particular attention to the so-called course syllabuses.
It is also a good idea to look at student references. These will tell you whether the study has met the expectations of your senior colleagues, whether they rate the composition of the individual courses as applicable in practice, and perhaps also what they think of their lecturers.
The European Training Academy offers studies in promising subjects such as SME management, healthcare management, general law and IT management. The school emphasises the modern concept of online learning and the link between theory and practice. Supplementing your education in just this way is really worthwhile at this educational institution.
